If perfect sand, turquoise water, and tropical vibes are what you’re after, Fajardo delivers. From family-friendly shores to hidden gems—and even a few trails just for the adventurous—these are some of the best beaches around. Here’s what makes each of them unique, so you can pick what suits your style (or try them all).
Seven Seas Beach
This beach is a small, crescent-shaped cove tucked within the Seven Seas Beach National Reserve in Las Croabas, Fajardo. It’s beloved for its calm, clear water and soft, golden sand. Because it forms a protected cove, there are natural reefs and seagrass beds offshore that help buffer the waves, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or simply floating. It has amenities—restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, beach umbrellas and lifeguards during certain hours. Weekdays are especially peaceful; weekends can get busy with locals and tourists alike. If you want more privacy, wander to the far edges where the reefs or rocks near the ends offer quieter spots.
Playa Escondida (“Hidden Beach”)
True to its name, this beach requires a bit of effort to reach. From Seven Seas Beach, you’ll make a hike (through mangrove forest paths) of about 25 minutes. Once there, you’ll find a long stretch of sand shaded by cliffs and lush vegetation, with beautiful views and a serene atmosphere. Swimming is discouraged because of strong currents and rip tides. There are no on-site facilities, so you’ll need to bring everything you need (water, sun protection, snacks), and make sure to wear good shoes for the trail.
Playa Colorá
If solitude and scenery are what you want, Playa Colorá is a standout. It’s further along the same trail from Seven Seas/Escondida. The sand has an orangey tan hue, with black rocks framing the edges. Because of its location, it gets far fewer visitors, which means quieter mornings and a strong connection with the environment. Important note: the surf can be rough, no lifeguards, and swimming is officially not recommended.
