If you haven’t already, you must experience springtime in Puerto Rico – there’s never a shortage of fun things to do. Complete with beautiful blue skies, plenty of sunshine, delicious food and friendly people – what’s not to love? You may be asking, where should I start? With so many fun choices, it’s hard to know how to fit it all in. Here’s are four fun things to do for an amazing spring vacation with friends and family.
Coco’s Park at Fajardo Inn
Kick-off your trip with a relaxing visit to Coco’s Park. After check-inn, grab your swimsuit and hit up our pool-side oasis complete with tennis and basketball courts, fruit orchard and exotic island birds. Sip on specialty cocktails from Bamboo Shack, our swim-up bar. Puerto Rico is home to the Bacardi distillery so try anything with rum. Then, spend your afternoon relaxing and sunbathing. Later, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of our on-site restaurants, Starfish Restaurant or Blue Iguana Mexican Grill & Bar.
Now that you’ve had some time to relax and recharge, visit the heart of Puerto Rico for an all-day tour of Old San Juan. San Juan tours leave Fajardo at 9 a.m. and first stop at the Bacardi Distillery for a one-hour tour. Here, you’ll learn about the history of distillery, get a behind-the-scenes look at the distilling process, and try some of Bacardi’s signature cocktails – on the house of course!
Old San Juan
Next, you’re off to Isla de Cabra for a breathtaking view of San Juan and its historical sites. You’ll discuss San Juan’s history with knowledgeable guides, specifically Spain’s colonization of the island and the many battles San Juan has seen. You’ll also have two hours to explore on your own before returning to Fajardo around 5 p.m.
Get ready for more adventure. Finally, we suggest visiting Bioluminescent Bay for an evening kayak tour. You won’t want to miss these glowing waters. Several tour companies are available to take you and most trips are between two and three hours long. Tip: it’s likely you’ll get wet while you kayak, so we recommend you bring a towel and a change of clothes.
Culebra and Vieques
On day three learn why Puerto Rico is called the Island of Enchantment or La Isla Del Encanto when you visit Culebra and Vieques. These nearby islands each have their own special charm. Culebra is small but home to famous Flamenco Beach. Vieques is larger and offers many palm tree-lined beaches and great snorkeling.
If you like to stay active at the beach, Seven Seas Beach – just 5 minutes from the inn – is a perfect fit. It’s an exceptional spot for snorkeling, sailing, and windsurfing.
Love water activities? End the day with a sunset cruise complete with cocktails and dinner service. Your cruise will last about two hours and depart at 5 p.m. Or, if you like the sea after dark, you can enjoy a moonlight cruise.
El Yunque National Rainforest
After a fun and relaxing day of beach-going, get ready for an action-packed day of sightseeing in a tropical rainforest! Spend your morning at El Yunque National Rainforest. You can explore on your own or tour with us. On our tour, you’ll learn about the forest’s biodiversity and ecosystems as well as enjoy spectacular views from the Yokahu observation tower. You’ll also have an opportunity to explore the park on your own and even jump into the water at La Mina Fall.
Then, relax a pool-side in Coco’s Park.
