Many say the best time to visit Puerto Rico is in the Spring – there’s no shortage of things to do. Sun, sand, great food, and friendly people make the island a vacationer’s paradise.
Here’s a 4-day itinerary for an unforgettable spring vacation with friends and family.
Coco’s Park at Fajardo Inn
Unpack and grab your swimsuit because it’s time to hit up Coco’s Park! Enjoy a specialty cocktail from our swim-up bar, Bamboo Shack, and don’t forget, Puerto Rico is home to the Bacardi distillery so we recommend anything with rum. Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing and sunbathing.
Later, head out for a delicious dinner at one of our on-site restaurants, Starfish Restaurant or Blue Iguana Mexican Grill & Bar.
Now that you’re relaxed and recharged, head to the heart of Puerto Rico for a full-day tour of Old San Juan. You’ll leave Fajardo at 9 a.m. and then stop at the Bacardi Rum Distillery for a one-hour tour. Here, you’ll get a history of the distillery, a behind-the-scenes look at the distilling process and learn how to prepare signature cocktails. You’ll even receive two complimentary drinks!
Old San Juan
Next, you’re off to Isla de Cabra for a beautiful view of San Juan and its historical sites. Finally, we take a look at San Juan’s history including Spain’s colonization of the island and the many battles San Juan has seen. You’ll also have two hours to explore independently before returning to Fajardo around 5 p.m.
Ready for more adventure? Head to Bioluminescent Bay for an evening kayak tour of its glowing waters. It’s a magical experience you can’t miss. Several tour companies are available to take you. Most trips are between two and three hours and it’s likely you’ll get wet while you kayak, so we recommend bringing towels and a change of clothes.
On your third day, learn why Puerto Rico is called La Isla Del Encanto or the Island of Enchantment when you visit nearby islands Culebra and Vieques. Each island has its own charm. Culebra is smaller but home to beautiful Flamenco Beach. Vieques boasts many palm tree-lined beaches and great snorkeling.
If you’re looking to stay active at the beach, Seven Seas Beach – just 5 minutes away from the inn – might be a perfect fit. It’s an excellent spot for snorkeling, sailing, and windsurfing.
If you haven’t had your fill of water activities, round out the day with a sunset cruise complete with cocktails and dinner service. The cruise is about two hours and departs at 5 p.m. Or, if you prefer the sea after dark, you can enjoy a moonlight cruise.
After a relaxing day lying on the beach, get ready for an action-packed day of sightseeing in a tropical rainforest! Spend your morning exploring El Yunque National Rainforest. You may explore it on your own or take a guided tour with us. On our tour, you’ll learn about the forest’s biodiversity and ecosystems as well as enjoy the spectacular views from the Yokahu observation tower. You’ll also have the chance to explore the park on your own and even jump into the water at La Mina Fall.
After a day in the tropical park, come back relax a pool-side. You can never go wrong with a little extra R&R.
