Planning Your Trip to Puerto Rico

Planning a Puerto Rican vacation can be fun. Making sure you take the essentials with you can help turn a great getaway into an extraordinary one. Here are some things to keep in mind while planning your visit to the amazing Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is considered a United States territory. This means that if you are traveling to Puerto Rico from the U.S., no passport is required. Currency used in Puerto Rico is the U.S. dollar, so no need for a currency exchange.  But don’t be surprised if locals refer to the dollar as “peso”.

Our weather is fantastic with average temperatures ranging from 70-89 degrees Fahrenheit year round. Water temperature ranges from 74 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  Perfect if you ask us!

When you pack, be sure to pack for more than the beach. While Puerto Rico has amazing beaches, we have so much more to offer.  During the day, you adventures will most likely be causal, so pack shorts, tank tops and t-shirts. But the evening can be a different story. Dressing up a little at night is common on the island, so bring dressy clothes that you can wear out for a fun night on the town. You will want to experience the nightlife in Puerto Rico! The evenings can also get a bit chilly after a warm day in the sun, so don’t forget a warm sweater.

Puerto Rico is great for an adventurous getaway too. If you visit the mountain regions or the El Yunque Rainforest you will want to be sure to pack a light jacket, athletic or hiking shoes, mosquito repellent and a small umbrella.  Of course a camera is always good to have on hand as well for the amazing sights you will see while exploring Puerto Rico!

And of course no Puerto Rican vacation would be complete without soaking up some sun and our tropical climate is perfect for doing so. But you don’t want to overdo it and spoil your time on the island. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and maybe even some aloe to use after you’ve been in the sun all day.  Remember to stay hydrated too. Spending time in the sun can quickly drain your body of fluids. It can be hard to tell you are dehydrated in such a humid climate, but be careful because it can sneak up on you and mess up your vacation.

Finally, think relaxation. Once you are here on the island, let us take care of you. Whether you stay in one of our standard rooms or choose our presidential suite, you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated here at Fajardo Inn. See you when you get here!
