Puerto Rico Itinerary: 4 Days
Palm trees, beaches, and romantic activities made Puerto Rico a couple’s paradise. There are many activities and attractions to keep you and your loved one busy around the island as well as plenty of activities at Fajardo Inn Resort to help you reconnect and relax. Below is a sample Puerto Rico itinerary: 4 days to get you started planning your romantic vacation to one of the best resorts in Puerto Rico.
Arrive at Fajardo Inn Resort and proceed to check-in. Take your luggage to your room and change into your swimsuit before heading out to our popular Coco’s Park! Check out our swim up bar, the Bamboo Shack Bar, and enjoy a specialty libation. Puerto Rico is home to the Bacardi Rum Distillery so we recommend getting into the spirit of the island with a rum drink! Spend the rest of your afternoon relaxing and sunbathing.
After adjusting to your surroundings, head out for a romantic dinner at one of our on-site restaurants. You’ll find delicious creations at both with a festive atmosphere.
Return to your room or romantic suite for an early bedtime after a day of traveling and fun in the sun.
Now that you’re well rested, head off into the heart of Puerto Rico for an Old San Juan Tour. This tour is a full-day excursion but for $89 per person it’s well worth the cost. We’ll leave Fajardo Inn Resort at 9 a.m. with the first stop at the Bacardi Rum Distillery for an hour long tour. Get a history of the distillery, a behind-the-scenes look at the process, and learn how to prepare signature cocktails. You’ll even receive two complimentary beverages! After the rum, we’re off to Isla de Cabra for an unparalleled view of San Juan and its historical sites. Finally, we delve into San Juan’s history including the Spanish colonization and many battles the city has seen. You’ll also have two hours to explore independently before returning to Fajardo around 5 p.m.
If you only dined on light snacks during your trip to San Juan, we recommend trying out our other restaurant you did not visit on your first night.
If you’re ready for more adventure, head out for a Bioluminescent Bay kayaking tour. There are a variety of local companies to guide you through the bay. Be amazed as the plankton “comes to life” and glows in the water when disturbed. It’s a magical experience that you have to see to believe. Most trips are between two and three hours and the cost includes your equipment. Most kayaks are designed for two and you will get wet during your trip so it’s recommended to bring towels and a change of clothes for your return.
Return back to Fajardo Inn Resort and enjoy a drink at the bar at our Blue Iguana Mexican Grill & Bar or sit out on our patios and enjoy the tropical breeze with your sweetheart. Enjoy falling asleep on your comfortable bed after a long day of exploring Puerto Rico.
On your third day, discover why Puerto Rico is la isla del encanto or the island of enchantment when you visit our nearby islands. Catch a ferry and visit Culebra or Vieques. Each island has its own popular features and you and your partner can pick which one suits your personality the most. Culebra is smaller but closer and is home to the beautiful Flamenco Beach. Whereas Vieques is home to many palm tree lined beaches and has a strong tie to the United States government.
After traveling around looking at the sandy beaches, pick one to set up camp for the afternoon! One of the world’s most popular beaches is here, Luquillo Beach and is a popular tourist destination in Puerto Rico. If you’re looking to stay active at the beach, Seven Seas Beach might be a perfect fit as it’s an excellent spot for snorkeling, sailing, and windsurfing.
If you haven’t had your fill on water activities, round out the day with a sunset cruise and enjoy rum drinks and food service as you watch the sunset over the ocean. The cruise is about two hours and departs at 5 p.m. Or if you want to take to the sea after dark, you can also enjoy a moonlight cruise!
After a relaxing day lying on the beach, get ready for a day in the United States’ only tropical rainforest! Spend your morning exploring El Yunque National Rainforest. You may explore it on your own or take a guided tour with us. On our tour, you’ll learn about the forest’s biodiversity and ecosystems and enjoy the spectacular views from the Yokahu observation tower. As with the Old San Juan Tour, you’ll have the chance to explore the park on your own and can even jump into the water at La Mina Fall.
If you want to explore on your own, you may be interested in a zipline adventure in the National Rainforest. There are two companies that provide zipline tours, ranging in time commitment and how many lines they operate. Ziplining is a popular and exciting way to see the rainforest.
After a day in the tropical park, come back to our park and relax as you did on your first day by staying pool-side. You can never go wrong with spending some much needed relaxation time at Coco’s Park.
